I liked the numb, blankness of it, I think it conveyed well that dumb sense of depression. But yeah, dull book. <br /><br />As coincidence would have it, I just saw that episode of Mad Men last night. And last week I decided "The Magnificent Octopus" would be a good name for a novel and chanced upon your blog. And very interesting to imagine Don Draper's thoughts while reading it - he has such an interesting attitude toward the women in his office. I re...I feel the same as you do about the Bell Jar. I read it in college in a women's lit class and I was so undewhelmed and confused why this was supposed to be so good other than the autobiographical bits and the electroshock.
