The girl and the cat

It's taken almost 5 years, but she's finally bigger than the cat.

The cat is not particularly enamored of this turn of events, but he's shown more patience this last month — heck, the whole 5 years — than I ever thought possible.

Good lord, what a huge cat!

And the girl is, as usual, adorable.

Wow. That is one big cat.

And how on earth did Helena get so big?

So cute.

That cat does not look amused. My niece is always trying to drag my cats around. I sometimes try to dissuade her, but then I figure they can probably fend for themselves and they probably enjoy having those perturbed looks on their faces anyway--this just gives them an excuse.

My goodness that girl just keeps getting more lovely! Calvino seems to be mellowing with age :)

I love how children hold cats. Though obviously, the cats don't usually love it. That is part of the charm. And speaking of charm, your daughter is, as always, charming and delightful.

And yup – that is one hell of a big cat. He looks a lot like my black cat Hamish, who usually has a slightly pissed-off look on his face, too.

Calvino is a fabulous name for a cat!

I love the way Helena holds Calvino, just as if he was a big stuffed animal. He does not look at all amused.

Where did I see the picture of them together when H was a baby? Was it from some game of Michele's?

Is that your cat from Ottawa? I always got your two cats mixed up...one was sick when we worked at Nortel. One died a year or so ago. But which is which and, and, more to the point, WHAT do you feed this sucker?

btw, he/she is beautiful.

No, the cat is not amused.

Patricia: Is Hamish on Facebook?

Liz: It's this cat that was worrisomely sick (urine crystals) back in the day, but he's thriving ever since.

We feed him (other people's) small children.
