A 4-year-old's Christmas scene
That's Père Noel on the right, a girl telling him a secret, a gaggle of small children at his feet, and a grown-up looming over them on the left.
I think Helena's artwork is getting weirder, a little bit creepy even. This scene was no doubt inspired by Friday's daycare visit to Santa's court in the adjoining mall. Crowds thwarted them from meeting him personally — they'll return another day.

Santa et al. kind of remind me of the sentinels in The Matrix!
I remember thinking Santa was creepy when I was a little bigger than her.
I like it! Granted, at first glance I thought it was a Madonna and Child scene, but hey!
It reminds me a lot of the kind of people my son used to draw. They also had big alien eyes and very little in the way of limbs. But he used to draw a great big button in the vicinity of their meridian point - a belly button - before he put in any other details. I don't know what THAT said, either!
She's great! between the cat and this one I think she's on her way to starting her own art movement :)
I once took a tour of the National Art Gallery, which is just down the street from me, Isabella. And through the headphones, an ethereal voice advised me, "When we say that our three-year old could have painted this picture, we are paying 'art' its highest compliment."
Granted.
What is the corollary though?
When a three-year old paints what an adult would try to paint, but cannot.....?
All I know is that your child has drawn something meaningful here.... something better than I myself would have done!
Gifted.
I think Helena is on the right track - Santa is a little creepy! And I'm with Stefanie, I think we'll see a Helena in MoMA someday.
