Do you live in Virginia?
Virginia State Representative John Cosgrove introduced a bill to the Virginia legislature requiring any woman who experiences "fetal death" without a doctor’s assistance to report this to the local law-enforcement agency within twelve hours of the miscarriage. Failure to do so is punishable as a misdemeanour -- "confinement in jail for not more than 12 months and a fine of not more than $2500, either or both."
The bill and its implications are summarized here. If you live in Virginia, please take up some of the suggestions listed there.
Do something!

The moral of the story?
Stupidity is a commodity found in great abundance.
Fortunately, the idiot is looking for attention, to be the 'hero'- no more than that
Not unlike psychiatrists.
What?
I agree with the Docs. These sorts of people look around to see what they can do to get the media's attention and they do it-regardless of the real-world consequences. Sadly, it's true--All publicity is good publicity. A year from now, few will remember WHO this guy was. But his name will be the most familiar one on the ballot....
Apparently his name is the only one on the ballot in his district, so I have a hard time seeing that as his motivation.
On the other hand, I fail to see any logic or benefit in legislating the requirement to report miscarriages.
Huh? Just how would people plan to enforce the penalty regarding someone who fails to report it? Cameras? Will a neighbour report suspiciously unpregnant-like behaviour?
